Re: the CD Rom fiasco. Someone needs to brief the LibDem spokesperson better. Keeping a machine holding such sensitive information off the Internet is an excellent idea.
The real failure here was that there was a CDROM burner on the machine which allowed data to be extracted without encrypting it effectively.
If the disks were encrypted with industrial grade 128 bit crypto there should be no concern.
